Bleeding one into another

Out of love or necessity

We find respite in each other

They say it’s fine you’re gays,

But must you shout aloud

Carrying on in flamboyant ways

Just to show you’re proud

If we simply kept it quiet

Seems we’ve always had to fuss,

Remember the first Pride was a riot

Love for some is a right

Preordained from birth

While others have to fight

To prove their inherent worth

To hide your identity

Is a burden heavy not light

To believe your life an obscenity

Best kept away out of sight

Harbored shame can lead to death

Of your spirit then your life

A waste of your sacred breath

Suffocated by pointless strife

It seems to me we ought to be

Concerned with hating hate

Allowing loving to be free

Whether queer or straight

Focused on the lifting up

And aiding those in need

Filling one other’s cup

So many souls to feed

Let’s strike out in joy

In carefree delight

It’s ours to employ

To everyone in sight

Happiness generates happiness

Gleefulness generates glee

Hate perpetuates sadness

So, let’s go on a cheerfulness spree

Kindness is completely free

Sprinkle that shit like glitter

Stay open to positivity

Not closed off or bitter

Valuing our difference

Embracing diversity
