As the year winds down, I find myself reflecting on one of my biggest personal and professional achievements of 2024: bringing the number of anthologies I’m published in to twelve anthologies total. This goal, which seemed both thrilling and daunting when I set it back in January, is now a reality, and the journey has been nothing short of transformative.
When I first envisioned this milestone, it wasn’t just about seeing my name in print. It was about growth—as a writer, a storyteller, and someone daring to share their voice with the world. The idea of getting to twelve anthologies, which meant being published in Eight more in one year felt like climbing a mountain, but it was a challenge I was ready to embrace.
The Road to 12
The journey began with pitching. I scoured calls for submissions, brainstorming ideas that would align with the themes of each anthology. Some ideas came naturally, inspired by personal experiences or favorite genres. Others required digging deep, stretching my creativity, and experimenting with new styles and perspectives.
Every acceptance brought a rush of excitement and validation, while rejections, though inevitable, were lessons in perseverance and resilience. With each “yes,” my confidence grew, and so did my commitment to this goal. Slowly but surely, the pieces started falling into place.

Lessons Learned Along the Way
- Consistency is Key: Balancing multiple deadlines while crafting unique stories for each anthology taught me the importance of discipline and time management. Small, consistent efforts truly add up over time.
- Embrace Vulnerability: Many of my submissions were deeply personal. Sharing parts of myself in my writing—whether it was a memory, a fear, or a hope—helped me connect with readers and editors in ways I hadn’t anticipated.
- The Power of Community: Writing can feel solitary, but being part of these anthologies introduced me to vibrant communities of fellow writers. Sharing this journey with them has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the experience.
A Year of Growth
Beyond the tangible achievement of seeing my work in print twelve times, this goal has profoundly shaped me as a writer. It pushed me to take risks, explore new genres, and refine my craft. It reminded me that every story matters and that our words can resonate far beyond what we imagine.
Looking Ahead
As I celebrate this milestone, I’m already thinking about what’s next. This year has shown me that no goal is too ambitious if paired with passion and perseverance. I’m eager to build on this foundation, continue telling stories, and see where the journey takes me in 2025.
To anyone reading this who’s chasing a dream: set bold goals, embrace the process, and trust yourself. The road might not always be easy, but the rewards are worth every step.
